INTERNAL EVALUATION:

The internal evaluation shall be based on a predetermined transparent system involving periodic written tests, assignments, seminars and attendance in respect of theory courses and based on written tests, lab skill/records/viva and atten- dance in respect of practical courses.

To ensure transparency of the evaluation process, the in- ternal assessment Grade awarded to the students in each course in a semester shall be notified on the notice board at least one week before the commencement of external ex- amination. There shall not be any chance for improvement for internal grade.

The course teacher (s) shall maintain the academic record of each student registered for the course, which shall be forwarded to the University (with the signature of both course teacher and HOD) through the College Principal.

Internal Evaluation has different components of differ- ent weights as shown below.

CALCULATION OF THE GRADE OF A COURSE

The grade of a course is calculated by combing the grades of the External and Internal examinations taking care of their weights. For a particular course, let the grades scored by a student be C and B respectively for he external and internal evaluations, as shown in the above examples. Then, the grade of the course can be calculated as follows:

Grade of course. Sum of weighted grade points/Sum of weights = 9/4 = 2.25 = Grade C

The grades of the different courses taken by a student may be similarly calculated and Semester Grade Point Av- erage (SGPA) at the end of a semester and Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) at the end of programme may be calculated.

CALCULATION OF SGPA

Suppose the student has taken four courses each of credits 4 and two courses each of credits 2 in a semester. After calculating the Grade of each course as demonstrated above, we can calculate SGPA as shown below:

CALCULATION OF CGPA

Just like we calculated SGPA, CGPA can be calculated at the end of a programme considering all the courses taken by the student subject to the minimum credits requirements.
